Enteric virus presence in green vegetables and associated irrigation waters in a rural area from Argentina. A quantitative microbial risk assessment

The aim of this study was to assess the presence norovirus, rotavirus and infective enterovirus in leafy green vegetables irrigation waters collected from a farm located at province Córdoba, Argentina, estimate quantitative risk infection by consuming these vegetables. During June 2014–July 2015, (n = 101) their corresponding 24) were collected. Viruses concentrated both matrices polyethylene glycol precipitation then subjected RT-PCR norovirus rotavirus. concentrates also inoculated CaCo-2 cells monitor occurrence enterovirus. frequency detection 37.5%, 20.8% 37.5% crops 60.4%, 22.7% 35.6% respectively. Similar profiles genogroups G-types distribution observed waters. estimated associated with raw consumption harvested that rural 0.2 per person day. This demonstrates wide human pathogenic viruses vegetables, which is concern when, as case, are eaten raw.
